Some screenshots of google notebook popped up on Flickr. Now, how many people have I recently told that I’m just waiting for google notes? I hope they release this soon. I’m already using google calendar, gmail, and chat from the web interface, might as well add one more app that uses a common login.

The National Security Agency has been secretly collecting the phone call records of tens of millions of Americans, using data provided by AT&T, Verizon and BellSouth, people with direct knowledge of the arrangement told USA TODAY.

Anyone here still think the current administration is doing our civil liberties any good? Is it really worth our freedom to spy “win” the war on terror?

The caveat, he said, is that “personal identifiers” — such as names, Social Security numbers and street addresses — can’t be included as part of the search. “That requires an additional level of probable cause,” he said.

For most of us, especially those who use cell phones, our number might as well be our SSN. It identifies who we are through too many public sources already. Just hit whitepages.com and do a reverse lookup, anyone can do it, no subpeona required. There are other less public databases available to telemarketers, private investigators and individuals with some cash that include unlisted and cell numbers.
