Ice Lens Photography

Interesting and cool.

Matthew Wheeler took his first picture through an ice lens in response to a challenge by Scientific American and CBC calling on listeners to light a fire with a lens made entirely of ice.

Too easy by far - Matthew took it one step farther and started photographing the natural beauty of his surroundings through the ice lenses he made.

Now we will construct a homemade vacuum-form table with which we will have hours of fun with scalding hot plastic! This is a really easy set-up. Read the instructions all the way through and see just how easy it is.

Save Lives In May.com

“I have received information psychically, which is corroborated by scientific data, according to which on May 25, 2006 a giant tsunami will occur in the Atlantic Ocean, brought about by the impact of a comet fragment which will provoke the eruption of under-sea volcanoes.

Assuming we aren’t all washed away today, it’ll be interesting to see what happens to this site tomorrow.

[Update May 25th 2006 at 16:24 CST]
The site is down, either they were DOS’d or the tsunami is on the way.

Concerto Table, The World’s Largest iPod Dock

Lovegrove & Repucci Established 2003

The Concerto Table is a piano-shaped dining room table/workspace (with built in storage) that is, as is nearly everything these days, iPod compatible. Built into the table is an Apple AV connection kit and 2 two-way speakers. Diners can control the music using the controls on the mounted iPod of your choice

Enough with the iPod accessories already? I bet for the price of this beast you could get a real grand piano and hire someone to play it for you.

SmackBook Pro - Gizmodo

I gotta admit, the MacBook Lightsabre was pretty cool, but the SmackBook is even cooler, and actually useful. This little mod utilizes the motion sensor to swap between desktops on the MacBook.

I gotta admit that I thought the MacBook Lightsabre was utterly stupid. The SmackBook however, is almost useful and subtle enough to be cool.

Now when is someone going to turn a MacBook into a controller for Monkey Ball?

DIY:happy » Quick and Dirty Mosquito Trap

Handy DIY mosquito trap. I might give it a try and see if it works. So far the Wasp trap isn’t working with bologna as bait. Need to stop and buy some fish on the way home.

MacSabre: Turn Your Mac into a Jedi Weapon

Hmm .. throw around my $1000-2000 laptop? Yeah, probably not. Still pretty amusing.

Using your Mac’s sudden motion sensor, this software turns your computer into a Jedi weapon almost worthy of taking on the real thing by making authentic lightsaber sound effects. It senses speed for the lightsaber movement sounds and acceleration for different levels of striking sounds.

bit-tech.net | WMD Part II by G-gnome

It has been a while since the first part of this project was published on bit-tech.net. For those who may have missed Part I, the aim of this project was to build a completely custom-built computer case, out of stainless steel, that would look like the sort of atomic bomb that one sees in spy movies or on TV shows like 24. I tried not to base the design on any real or fictional bomb, but simply out of my imagination.
