Glow Brick
Looks like a good idea for a DIY project.
This weird and wonderful block of acrylic is a deliciously strange piece of lighting, as it contains a disembodied phosphorescent light bulb that seems to float within its transparent surroundings. As darkness falls, the bulb begins to glow a ghostly shade of green, gently bathing its surroundings in ethereal emerald light.

LXer: Why People Like Linux
I’m not agreeing with everything he has to say, but the article is interesting and certainly describes some of the reasons I choose Linux. If you haven’t tried it yet, check out Ubuntu’s Live CD on any PC. If you can boot from a CD you can play with Linux and not risk any of the existing stuff on your computer.
The things about Linux that one could characterise a year ago have changed. I remember how wonderful I regarded the 2.035 kernel, Samba, Apache and “C” in 1998. We didn’t have KDE and Gnome but that didn’t matter.

PVR works great! Now if only I was deaf…
Cool idea, but he should have gone with MythTV instead of using Windows.
I started out with a 1952 Philips TV console that I picked up for $40 at an estate sale.
