Doctor Who Scarf

An entire site dedicated to Dr. Who’s scarfs and ways to reproduce them.

I just completed a new season 12 scarf in stockinette using “aurora 8″ yarn from Karabella. This yarn has the best colors I’ve seen so far! I’ll put more specific info on this yarn in the next day or two…

TPCI - TIOBE Programming Community Index

Interesting graph of which languages are most popular and their popularity trend.

The TIOBE Programming Community index gives an indication of the popularity of programming languages. The index is updated once a month. The ratings are based on the world-wide availability of skilled engineers, courses and third party vendors. The popular search engines Google, MSN, and Yahoo! are used to calculate the ratings. Observe that the TPC index is not about the best programming language or the language in which most lines of code have been written.

Suit claims Match.com set up fake dates | CNET News.com

Looks like someone’s in a bit of hot water and I don’t think it’s Match.com.

How can it possibly be cost effective for them to send employees on “fake” dates to keep a couple users? I could see going to the trouble of fabricating fake testimonials, success stories and happy faced customers, it’s called marketing these days. This sounds a lot like a scam to me and possibly a frivilous suit.

Match.com, a unit of IAC/Interactive, is accused in a federal lawsuit of goading members into renewing their subscriptions through bogus romantic e-mails sent out by company employees.

Home Decorating with LED - the ultimate trend guide | Trendir

Some interesting ideas on how using LEDs for form and fashion.

Decorating with LED is easy. After learning about many LED enabled home fixtures, we’ve understood that the most of them if not all can be installed by regular contractors or plumbers, with no special skills required. Really, all it takes is to plug in a LED powering connection via low voltage adapter that comes with the product (some can even run on batteries). LED is definitely in the trend.

Target : Midway Home Use Arcade Machine

Target : Midway Home Use Arcade Machine

Saw one of these at the local Target tonight for $450. It’s way too short, a bit cramped, certainly not for the larger players. The tube appears to be a standard TV. The one I saw was stuck on a blue screen with A/V in the corner. The game itself appeared to be dead or turned off as none of the buttons changed the screen.

The joystick and buttons remind me of the cheap imitation games and I seriously doubt they are as durable as the real thing, although it’d probably be a trivial matter to replace them with real buttons and joysticks.

$450 isn’t a bad price for an arcade cabinet, but this one is a bit too small, and short, for adults. Set it on a couple milk crates, replace the guts with a cheap x86 MAME machine and you may be on to something though.

* Full-size 12-game machine
* Joust, Defender I and II, Robotron, Rampage, Splat, Satan’s Hollow, Root Beer Tapper, Bubbles, Wizard of War, Timber and Sinistar
* Multiplayer action
* ESRB Rating: Rated E for Everyone

My Apple iWipe

Well, as soon as I saw the Mac SE case, I realized that this one had the most potential. So this weekend, I bought a few things at Home Depot and got started making my Apple-powered, wireless, portable toilet paper dispenser — the iWipe.

The Straw House Blog - LED Ligthts

Some cool LED fixtures.

I ventured out to Eurolite and asked about LED lights, white LEDs had only recently come onto the market and I was hoping to find a simple fixture that used very very little power. They didn’t have anything in the showroom. There was virtually nothing in their catalogues. Most of the LED fixtures they did have or could get used many LEDs, dozens or even hundreds of them together in one fixture.
