PowerFilm® Rollable Series
This company was starting up about the time that James and I started murl.com. Appears they’ve lasted a bit longer than the Murl business model did.
I’m not overly impressed with the technology though. Costs a little more per area than rigid panels and delivers a third to half the power.
Because PowerFilm® integrated solar panels (thin film on plastic) are developed and manufactured with a proprietary roll-to-roll process, by Iowa Thin Film Technologies, they are truly rollable unlike other thin film technologies that are only somewhat flexible. PowerFilm® solar panels are monolithically integrated which eliminates the need for damage-prone manual connections of individual solar cells. PowerFilm® is made of silicon, a natural resource in abundant supply.
